Learning goal: To have the basic understanding of the ATEX Directive and IECEx to be responsible for, or work within hazardous areas.
Target group: Personnel who is involved (directly or not) with installation of EX applications; management, sales, engineers, automation technicians, general technicians, mechanics, electricians, apprentices and other personnel carrying out work associated with hazardous areas.
Day 1. Introduction to the ATEX Directive and IECEx Scheme, the GAS theory and the Area Classification. You will get basic understanding of:
• Gas properties
• groups / sub-groups and temperature classes
• area classification and the use of the area classification
• the described protection concepts and their features
• marking of equipment
Day 2. Introduction and short description of the EX categories, introduction to the requirements, notifications and assessment report formats:
• Protection Concepts (Flameproof enclosure (Ex d)
• Pressurized enclosure (Ex p)
• Powder filling (Ex q)
• Oil (liquid) immersion (Ex o)
• Increased safety (Ex e)
• Intrinsic Safety (Ex i)
• Encapsulation (Ex m)
• ‘n’ protection (Ex n)
• Dust ignition protection by enclosure (Ex t)
• Marking of Equipment
• Short brief of QA requirements
• ATEX Directive Quality Assurance Notification QAN
• IECEx Quality Assessment Report QAR.
The course covers areas needed to qualify within personnel certification schemes (link)
Language: Norwegian. All training material is in English and will be sent to the attendants in PDF after the training course.
