DNV and Patjens cooperate on first LNG fuelled container ship
Hamburg: Together with DNV and other partners, DNV customer Reederei Stefan Patjens is ready to retrofit LNG on board a 5,000 TEU container vessel. When completed, this would be the very first use of LNG as fuel on board a container ship and of LNG as fuel in worldwide trading.
World’s first LNG-fuelled coaster to be classed to DNV
NSK Shipping AS, a coastal vessel operator based in northern Norway, has recently placed an order for a state-of-the-art LNG-fuelled multi purpose vessel at the Turkish shipyard, Tersan. The vessel, designed by Nordnorsk Skipskonsult AS, will be classed to DNV.

Students predict LNG preferred fuel
Oslo, 6 August: According to DNV’s summer students, LNG could easily become the most feasible means of fuel in short sea shipping. The students’ report was presented today in front of an audience of 200 people – including shipowners, representatives from the supply industry and Norwegian authorities.
First training course certified to the world’s only ice navigation standard
The Ship Manoeuvring Simulator Centre of Trondheim, Norway is the first training centre to have its navigation course certified to DNV’s ice navigation standard. “Representing the world’s only competence standard in this area we are stressing the importance that the additional challenges in Arctic waters must be met with a highly skilled crew,” says Jon Rysst, DNV’s regional manger of Norway, Finland and Baltics.

DNV to assess the refurbishment of Czech power plant
PRAGUE: DNV has signed a contract with the Czech Ministry of the Environment to conduct an assessment of the refurbishment plans for the Prunéřov II power plant.
